Honoring the Dominican Sisters and all women religious during National Catholic Sisters Week, St. Mary’s Dominican High School Alumnae served meals to 75 residents at Covenant House in New Orleans. Ten Dominican Alumnae donated food for the Italian dinner. Since 2019, the Alumnae Association of St. Mary’s Dominican High School has provided meals at Covenant House in honor of National Catholic Sisters Week. Covenant House services include immediate and long-term assistance to youth through the Covenant House 24/7 Crisis Center, transitional housing program, and off-site independent apartments.

National Catholic Sisters Week began in 2015 as part of National Women’s History Month. It is now an official component of Women’s History Month. The annual celebration, observed March 8-14, honors the women who have taken religions vows and acknowledges their tireless work and encouraging more women to explore religious life.
