Last month, Regan Moss & Treasure Joiner presented research at the Academic Consortium on Criminal Justice Health in Atlanta titled ""How do we create the things that don't exist?" Strategies to provide person-centered abortion doula care to incarcerated clients."
They presented the results from Aim 1 of Regan Moss' study from the Society of Family Planning Emerging Scholars Grant: increasing access to abortion doulas in prisons and jails. The presentation focused on the barriers, challenges, and opportunities doulas perceive in providing abortion care to this population.
They conducted the work in partnership with a range of community partners under the "Prison Abortion Access Advisory Group," including LAAF and ARC SE, and also recently co-applied for a grant - "From Community to Care: Participatory Research for Abortion Doula Support," which will help them act on the results from aim 1.
