What a way to celebrate 20 years of Wilcox Academy!

Yesterday, we opened the doors to Wilcox Academy Central City—a dream realized in the very community that helped raise me. More than a state-of-the-art early learning center, this project represents opportunity, investment in children and families, and affordable housing for early childhood educators.

Seeing our amazing TEAM celebrating on the front page of The Times-Picayune fills my heart. This moment belongs to every teacher, leader, family, supporter and partner who believed in this vision.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our community and development partners. You didn’t just help us open a building—you helped us build something that will impact generations.

20 years down—and we’re just getting started!

For 20 years, Wilcox Academy has loved, educated, and poured into the children and families of New Orleans. And tomorrow, we get to stand in the heart of Central City and see what faith, hard work, community, and a whole lot of perseverance can build.

This ribbon cutting is about so much more than opening the doors to Wilcox Academy Central City.

It is the realization of a dream a beautiful new space where children can learn and thrive, families can feel supported, educators can build careers, and affordable housing for early childhood educators is part of the vision.

We built more than a child care center. We built a community. We built opportunity. We built HOME.

And after 20 years of serving this city, there is something incredibly special about coming home to Central City and celebrating this moment with the people who helped make the journey possible.

20 Years. One Generation. A Legacy Still Being Written. 💙✨

Today, Wilcox Academy turns 20 years old.

Twenty years represents a generation, and I stand in awe of God’s faithfulness. I am deeply grateful that He saw fit to entrust me, my family, and our incredible staff with the privilege of serving the children and families of our community.

If I’m honest, it has never been easy… and the work isn’t easy today. But through every challenge, every victory, every lesson, and every miracle, one thing has remained true:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

Today, we celebrate every child whose laughter has filled our classrooms.
Every parent who trusted us with their greatest gift.
Every teacher, staff member, coach, director, volunteer, board member, and leader who has been part of this incredible journey.

This neighborhood raised me. It shaped my values, my purpose, and my passion for children. Returning here isn’t just about opening a new building—it’s about honoring where this journey began.

The road took longer than we expected. There were obstacles, setbacks, and moments that tested our faith. But through every challenge, God never changed the plan. Every delay had a purpose, and every step brought us closer to the vision.
