Biology students in Mrs. Giacona’s and Ms. Griffin’s classes became real-life plant detectives the last week of school! Using dichotomous keys, students explored the Dominican campus to identify different plants and learn how scientists classify organisms.

The activity also helped students avoid “plant blindness” which is the tendency to overlook the plants around us and forget how important they are in our everyday lives.

“It was a fun activity to wrap up the school year and enjoy being outside,” said Mrs. Giacona. 🌱☀️

A Toast of Praise to Dominican’s Class of 2026 Salutatorians and Graduation Award Winners!

We celebrate the remarkable achievements, leadership, and dedication of our Salutatorians and special award recipients—Mother Mary Magdalen O’Farrell, O.P. Service Award, Sr. Mary Ambrose Reggio, O.P. Alumnae Award, Ancient Order of Hibernians Award, American Legion Award, and the Veritas Award!

The Veritas Award is the most prestigious honor presented to a graduating senior of St. Mary’s Dominican High School. The recipient of this award demonstrates exemplary understanding of the Dominican Charism. Following the example of St. Dominic de Guzman, founder of the Dominican Order, the Veritas Award recipient faithfully strives to seek Truth through prayer, study, community, and service. She preaches the Truth of the Gospel through the example of her life and calls forth the best in others.

We are proud of these outstanding members of the Class of 2026 and grateful for the many ways they have enriched our Dominican community. Your accomplishments reflect a commitment to excellence, faith, and service that will continue to shine far beyond Dominican.

A Toast of Praise to Dominican’s six Valedictorians—Therese Vaughn Carriere, Kristian Alexis Champagne, Peyton Ann Kuehne, Vanessa Yi Liu, Danielle Ruth Morgan, and Emily Louisiana Nathan!

At graduation, these exceptional seniors were presented with the Valedictory Award — an honor recognizing the graduate who achieved the highest cumulative grade point average in her program of studies.

During the ceremony, their individual speeches were woven together as one unified reflection, connected through photographs, memories, and the shared experiences that shaped their journey at Dominican. Their words beautifully captured the laughter, friendships, challenges, and moments that will forever tie the Class of 2026 together.

Congratulations, graduates! Your dedication, leadership, and sisterhood have left a lasting mark on Dominican, and we cannot wait to see all that lies ahead for each of you.
