George Rodrigue Foundation announces 2026 scholarship contest winners; see and hear the winning pieces The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts has announced the winners of its annual visual art and songwriting contests, who will each receive a share of $25,000 in scholarships.

The 2026 Scholarship Art Contest Student Exhibition - Unveiling the Bayou: Light and Shadow is now on view at the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge through the end of May. If you are in the area be sure to stop by and check it out!

🥳 Today we celebrate the birthday of George Rodrigue (1944-2013) — an artist whose vision, imagination, and unmistakable style left a lasting mark on American art. From his early Cajun landscapes to the iconic Blue Dog series, Rodrigue created images that connect deeply with audiences around the world.

His work blends storytelling, culture, and mystery in a way that continues to inspire new generations of collectors and admirers. Though he is no longer with us, his creative spirit lives on through the vibrant characters and scenes he brought to life on canvas. Today we remember his passion for art, his Louisiana roots, and the legacy he left behind. Happy Birthday, George! 💙

Today is the perfect day to celebrate Rodrigue's enduring legacy by watching the acclaimed documentary Blue: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue (Rodrigue Blue Dog Film).

This Emmy Award-winning film has also earned a Silver Telly Award for Long Form Documentary and the 2024 Southern Feature Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival, offering an intimate look at the Cajun artist's journey and the iconic Blue Dog.
