February is recognized as American Heart Month. It is a time of year that each of us should focus on maintaining our cardiovascular health. We can take care of our heart and blood vessels by knowing our blood pressure readings, cholesterol levels, and participating in some form of aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes each day and 5 days per week. A heart healthy diet consists of eating more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean, low-fat protein sources. If you do smoke ci******es or v**e e-ci******es, think about reducing your frequency and quitting altogether. โ

The Loyola University New Orleans School of Nursing encourages you to focus not only on your emotional heart during the love month but also love your cardiovascular system during American Heart Month!โ

Dr. Smart was selected by an out-of-state auditing firm among six other well qualified nominees. What a way to wrap up the 2022 Year of the Nurse Educator. Congratulations Dr. Smart!

The Loyola University New Orleans School of Nursing First-Year Pre-Nursing Students hosted an allied health professional panel in their nursing seminar class. The panel of allied health professionals presented information about their respective health careers and provided insight on how their specific health disciplines contribute to the health care team for patient care. This discussion and Q&A session was a great way for our pre-nursing students to see how vital allied health is for the overall health of patients and how as future registered nurses they will all work together in different but important ways for their patients. The Speech Pathologist even brought some thickened liquid for students to try! In addition to the speech therapy team, we had representatives from the physical therapy team, occupational therapy team, respiratory therapy team, pharmacy team, and physician assistants/associates. โ
