on Dr. Christian Bolden! Learn more about Dr. Bolden:
Christian L. Bolden earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Central Florida and Masters in Sociology from Texas State University-San Marcos. He is chairperson and associate professor of Criminology and Justice and the Robert Hunter Distinguished Professor at Loyola University New Orleans. His research areas are gang histories and processes, mass incarceration, and human trafficking. His book Out of the Red: My Life of Gangs, Prison, and Redemption received the 2020 Frank Tannenbaum Outstanding Book Award from the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Convict Criminology amongst other awards. In 2012-2013, Dr. Bolden was the Futurist in Residence” research fellow for the FBI. He continues to guest lecture for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico.
Dr. Bolden teaches online undergraduate and graduate classes on gangs and mass incarceration. His advice to students- “Time management is key! In a fast-paced world, figuring out how to balance responsibilities is important for success.”
Encouraging words- “Society is what we make it. Education gives you to power to think through and effect change.”
