STEM Global Action STEM Global Action is a network and campaign that pursues the advancement of STEM education. The STEM NOLA team runs SGA.

STEM NOLA is a national leader in the design and delivery of STEM-based activities, programs and events to K-12 students, families and communities. Participants receive a unique interactive, hands-on learning experience that allows learners of all ages to deepen their knowledge in STEM studies, gain confidence in their abilities and chart a course for career opportunities in STEM fields. Our Programs | Through a network of school-time, out-of-school programs, community-based groups, parent organizations, businesses and STEM professional organizations, STEM NOLA leads the way to identify common measures for high-quality STEM programs.

Science came to life for our STEM Baton Rouge Fellows at Water Institute! 🌿🔬

From getting up close with local species to uncovering DNA from a strawberry, our Fellows spent the day asking questions, testing ideas and exploring how different organisms and ecosystems are connected.

They mapped, studied food webs and took a closer look at organisms under the microscope — turning a day at The Water Institute into a hands-on STEM adventure. 🧬🦅🌎

Nearly 1 in 5 Louisianans live in poverty ( ). That's why expanding access to STEM education is more important now than ever.

That’s why we’re working to build STEM Louisiana. 💙

In a recent post, CEO and Founder of STEM NOLA | STEM Global Action, Mackie highlights a critical challenge facing Louisiana: poverty can create barriers to STEM education and, ultimately, economic opportunity.

STEM Global Action is working to close STEM access gaps by providing free and hands-on STEM programs, advanced learning opportunities, teacher support, STEM resources and employment opportunities for students.

STEM skills like critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication can open doors to growing career fields and help prepare students for the future workforce.

Expanding access to STEM means expanding access to opportunity — and stronger STEM communities start with making sure every student has the chance to engage, explore and succeed.

Our STEM Baton Rouge Fellows had an exciting day of hands-on learning at The Water Institute this Saturday! 🌿🔬🌎

During the sessions, our Fellows studied avian species in their natural habitats, learned how to extract DNA from a strawberry, completed a mapping activity, explored food webs and examined different organisms under a microscope.

Experiences like these give students the opportunity to connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world science, ecosystems and environmental research.

🩺 STEM Fellows are getting a closer look at careers in healthcare!

Through a partnership with Health New Orleans, our STEM NOLA Fellows took part in a hands-on experience in the robotic simulation lab, explored how various organs function in the human body, and learned more about the many career opportunities available in healthcare.

Students also got the opportunity to connect with medical residents, medical students, and educational leaders and were given the chance to ask questions about their journeys into the field.

We’re proud to give our Fellows hands-on experiences that help them explore their interests and see what’s possible for their future. 🔬

STEM Saturday is gaining some serious momentum!💧⚙️

STEM Gulf Coast is diving into the world of fluid mechanics as K–12 students explore how force and pressure move through liquids to make things happen!

Today’s challenge? At the Gaston Point Recreation Center, students are designing and building their own hydraulic bridges and elevators, putting their engineering skills to the test and seeing hydraulic systems in action. 🏗️🔧
