A big thank you to our amazing Loyola students, faculty, and our co-host, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development, for making our 2024 Service Study Break a success! Together, we created 184 blessing bags, which one of our fellows, Madison Clemons, graciously delivered to the Harry Thompson Center, a day shelter supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown New Orleans.

It was a heartwarming gathering filled with Christmas music, hot chocolate, and cookies as we celebrated the holidays by giving back to our community.

That’s a wrap for this semester’s events! Thank you to everyone who participated with the Center for Ethics and Economic Justice. We look forward to seeing you in the spring semester! ⚖️🐺 Happy holidays Wolf Pack! 🎄

We were thrilled to host Geoff Gentile, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Abdiel Capital, for an enriching session with our Loyola community! Geoff shared profound insights on integrating faith-based principles into economic practices, especially meaningful for students pursuing finance. He broke down the four pillars of a Catholic, person-centered economic approach: valuing justice in the dignity of labor, understanding subsidiarity and the importance of empowering local communities, fostering solidarity through shared purpose, and embracing social responsibility as a commitment to the common good.

Geoff's talk encouraged us to look beyond just career growth and financial gain. Instead, he inspired them to pursue roles that align with their values and nurture ethical virtues.

Thank you, Geoff, for helping us gain a deeper perspective on how faith and finance can intersect for the betterment of society!

Started the semester with our first Financial Literacy class at Rayburn Correctional Center! 📚👨‍🏫👩‍🏫

Our Fellows led the session with support from Josh Hughes with Greater New Orleans FCU, and Stephanie Gaskill, PhD with JSRI The Jesuit Social Research Institute.

Through the Socratic method, our Fellows guided Rayburn’s students in applying financial literacy to their own lives. Today, we covered topics like understanding money and practicing budgeting. We’re looking forward to returning next Friday to continue developing as servant leaders in the New Orleans community!
