At Abendigo Consulting, we believe that mindset is everything.
We work with school administrators to develop and implement programming that helps improve their students' and teachers' mindsets - which in turn improves educational outcomes.

I was like a lot of kids. I loved playing basketball, but I didn't love school. My grades were average at best, and I just wanted to focus on ball. That is until a coach told me about growth mindset. He talked about how people with growth mindsets believe that they can improve their skills through hard work and dedication. This was a lightbulb moment for me. Suddenly, everything made sense! If I changed the way I looked at school and basketball, maybe I could improve my skills.
Once I started thinking about school in that way, my whole life changed. My grades went up and I improved my skill on the court. I even made it to a Division 1 college to learn and play.
Now that I'm older, I want to share this knowledge with first generation college bound kids. Many times, their success in college means the success of their whole family.
I know from personal experience that if you have a growth mindset, nothing can stop you from reaching your goals. So if you're ready to work hard and learn some new things, then I'm ready to help you get ready for college. Let's do this!

In life, we are constantly challenged with new ideas and ways of thinking, which inevitably leads to personal growth. In college, students are pushed outside of their comfort zones and are given the opportunity to explore who they are and what they want to do with their lives. This can be a daunting task, but it is also an incredibly rewarding experience. Those who take advantage of the growth opportunities college provides often find that they emerge from college as more well-rounded, purposeful individuals. They have a better understanding of who they are, what they want to achieve in life, and how they can use their skills and talents to make a difference in the world. While the college experience can be challenging, it is also an immensely beneficial time for growth and self-discovery.

Working in higher ed, I taught mostly college freshman, and I've come to realize that one of the most important things we can do to help them be successful in college is help them develop a growth mindset. But as I was thinking about this, I realized that maybe it's not just college freshmen who need to learn this...maybe high school juniors and seniors need to hear about it too.
After all, if they're anything like the freshmen I teach, they're probably feeling a little anxious about starting college. They're probably wondering how they'll measure up, whether or not they're smart enough, and if they'll be able to keep up with their classmates.
Well, I'm here to tell you that having a growth mindset can help with all of that! With a growth mindset, you don't worry so much about measuring up or being perfect. You focus on learning and growing instead.
So if you're heading off to college soon, remember: don't let your mistakes hold you back! Embrace them instead, because that's how you'll learn and grow the most.

Sunday is the perfect day to reflect on the week that was and set your intention for the week ahead. It's a day of renewal, a day to refresh your mind and body. One of the best ways to do this is to adopt a growth mindset. This means seeing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning, and believing that you have the power to improve and change. When you approach life with a growth mindset, you'll find that you're more resilient and adaptable, and that you're able to bounce back from setbacks more easily. So if you're looking for ways to set yourself up for a successful week, make sure you start with a growth mindset.

It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving.
That was the first lesson I taught my Dillard University class on growth mindset. It's a concept that is relatively new, but it's one that can change your life if you let it. Most people think of mindset in terms of talent or ability. You're either born with it or you're not. But that's not what growth mindset is all about.
With a growth mindset, you focus on learning and growing instead of being limited by your abilities. You don't give up when things get tough. You push yourself to learn and become better no matter what the obstacle may be. And most importantly, you believe that you can improve no matter who you are or where you come from.
It was amazing to see the transformation in my students once they learned about growth mindset. They became more confident and resilient, and they were able to achieve things they never thought possible before.
