This is particularly true as the film begins to wind down, and these two have established themselves as well-informed, well-reasoned human beings who are acutely aware that racism is alive and well in America (NOTE: as a person with lifelong disability, I'd personally argue that slavery is alive in the United States to this day just expressed differently)."

"The documentary excellently highlights the issues posed by plantations being used as tourist attractions and the way this contributes to a whitewashed version of history, honouring a traumatic past. These plantations and their twisted history, through ignorance towards the black community, made these landmarks into spaces characterised by whiteness and ‘southern hospitality’ rather than the racial violence which built them."

Here we saw the French and British fight for control of this site. Louisbourg the key to control over North America. The Fortress eventually succumbing to this power struggle, destroyed during the Seven Years' War. And, while it is known for a lot of things (its impressive reconstruction, its environment, its destruction, among others), we are going to talk about its often overlooked, but critical attribute - Louisbourg's harbour! Because this is where the real seat of power lay; a small protected harbour in the North Atlantic, which could make or break the struggle for control of North America.
