👀✨ What are babies thinking when they see themselves?

In our Magnolia infant classroom, a research question invites us to slow down and look closer: What can we learn from a baby’s gaze?

As our youngest learners encounter mirrors, study photographs of themselves, and gaze at one another, we begin to wonder what they notice, recognize, and communicate without words.

A lingering look. A curious reach. A smile at a familiar face. Each small gesture offers a glimpse into the incredible thinking happening in these earliest years of school. 💛

Because even before babies have words, they have a hundred ways of telling us what matters to them. Our job is to notice, wonder, and listen. 🌱

✏️🌿 Fresh air, big ideas!

In our hybrid outdoor classrooms, inspiration is everywhere. Given access to their outdoor space, writing materials, and the freedom to explore, our preschoolers turn the world around them into a canvas. 🌱🎨

Mark-making is about so much more than putting pencil to paper. Every line, scribble, shape, and symbol is an opportunity to build fine motor skills, strengthen early writing foundations, express ideas, and make meaning of the world.

At Early Partners, our hybrid garden house classrooms are magical spaces to wonder, imagine, and grow. 💚

What happens when we give children permission to really play with their their food? 🍓🍊🍉
In this sensory-based fruit exploration, children investigated fruits with their whole bodies and all their senses! Azalea students are feeling different textures, smelling new scents, noticing vibrant colors, tasting flavors, and discovering what happens when they squish, smash, squeeze, scoop, and dig in.

And perhaps most importantly, teachers got to say YES! 🙌
Yes, you can touch it.
Yes, you can squish it.
Yes, you can make a mess.

Because sometimes the mess is the learning. When children are given the freedom to explore without worrying about keeping their hands clean or the table tidy, they are building sensory awareness, language, fine-motor skills, curiosity, and confidence!
At Early Partners, we believe children deserve the time, space, and freedom to get messy in the name of discovery. ❤️

🍂Autumn has arrived, and with it a whole new collection of possibilities to wonder about, investigate, and create.

In our Reggio-inspired classrooms, seasonal provocations invite children to slow down and notice: the changing colors and textures of leaves, the shape and feel of pumpkin seeds, and the many ways the world transforms around them. Okra becomes a tool, a leaf becomes a canvas, and a pile of acorns transforms into something new.

🍁These open-ended invitations spark questions, encourage experimentation, and make their thinking visible. ✨When we follow our students' curiosity, even a fallen leaf can lead somewhere delightful.

The Wildflower Tea Party was a success! 🌱

Students harvested herbs and flowers from their outdoor classroom, created decorations, and brewed giant jars of tea to share. 🌺

They tasted the different tea combinations and gave their feedback on favorite flavors while enjoying treats and conversation around the table. 🍵

The Jasmine students are exploring a new space that was intentionally designed with research questions in mind:

What stories can your body tell as you move with music?
How does the music invite your body to move?
What do you notice happening in your body as you listen and move?
Can music change the way we feel, move, or express ourselves? What might your body discover when you move in different ways?

We wonder what theories will emerge as the children listen, move, observe one another, and explore the many ways the body can communicate. Here is a quick little glimpse of the magic already happening. ✨

Messy hands. Curious minds. Brain building. 🧠💦🎨

For toddlers, water play, paint, mud, and a little (okay, a LOT) of mess are more than fun; they’re opportunities to learn.

As children pour, scoop, squish, mix, splash, and experiment, they’re building connections between their senses, bodies, and brains. They’re developing fine-motor skills, practicing cause and effect, building language, solving problems, and learning through hands-on discovery.

So yes, we embrace the mess. Because sometimes the path to big learning is paved with muddy feet, painted fingers, and very wet sleeves.

After over a month at school, the deep learning that's happening in our classrooms across campus is evident. 💫

We see focus at project areas set up thoughtfully in the classrooms, friendship and comfort emerging with classmates and teachers, and students taking care of themselves and others throughout the school day. 💪

We're off to a great start, and the possibilities are endless!
