Open to all students, this hybrid course explores the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. From identifying market opportunities to developing and pitching early-stage ideas. Whether you’re curious about StartupUNO or thinking about launching your own venture, this is a great place to start.

This year, we launched the Faculty Innovation Fellowship pilot program, where fellows will work to translate cutting-edge UNO research into real-world products, startups, and industry partnerships.

The fellowship provides up to $15,000 in support for commercialization-focused research, innovation activities, and entrepreneurial development throughout the 2026–27 academic year.

As part of the American Councils for International Education’s , Shafin Khan, our Vice President of Innovation and Technology Commercialization, recently traveled to Mataram, Indonesia to collaborate with YSEALI fellow , to provide entrepreneurial education to local innovators in Indonesia as well as to share best practices with ecosystem builders in the region.

Shafin participated in Mataram Innovation Week, an initiative spearheaded by the Mataram city government, to educate and empower local communities to build new businesses in Indonesia.

Through conversations with city officials, universities, and other stakeholders, this visit also provided an opportunity to showcase both the and Louisiana’s growing innovation ecosystem on an international stage.

, Graduate Assistant and PhD student at UNO, specializing in Power System Studies, participated in Dillard’s NOLA Clean Energy Fellowship, a program that combines hands-on experiences, real installation site visits, and direct career pathways with the opportunity to earn Solar or LEED certifications.

“One of the most valuable lessons for me was the discipline of thinking beyond system performance alone. Energy systems must not only be stable and efficient, but also responsive to how people live and how cities grow.”

On Monday, we joined for AI Across America: Baton Rouge, where leaders from across Louisiana came together to explore the future of AI, innovation, cybersecurity, education, workforce development, and technology across our state.

Our VP of Innovation & Technology Commercialization, Shafin Khan, moderated the “Industrial AI in Louisiana” panel, while Dr. Vassil Roussev represented UNO on the “Louisiana AI Infrastructure & Resource Needs” panel.

We look forward to continuing to contribute to statewide conversations on AI, entrepreneurship, and innovation across Louisiana.
