About Us
The Art Center of Northern New Jersey, located in New Milford, is a fine arts school and gallery providing adults and children a stimulating environment for the development of skills and practicing art in all manner of media. The Art Center is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. It seeks to:
* Build a strong base of understanding and
appreciation for the arts;
* Provide

professional-level instruction;
* Sponsor programs for cultural advancement
and personal growth;
* Open its facilities to the community;
* Serve all without regard to color, race, creed or socio-economic status;
* Offer outreach events to High School students and to the challenged and disabled. History
Established in 1957, the Art Center of Northern New Jersey has been an active participant in Bergen County cultural life for 65 years. We are the site of county and state-wide juried shows, a concert and dance space, a meeting ground for professional arts groups, and community cultural programs. We welcome and encourage everyone, regardless of ability, to get in touch with their inner creativity by helping them practice, view, and experience all aspects of the visual arts. Our main floor has a large exhibition gallery, painting studio, photographic darkroom, office and a wheelchair accessible restroom. The lower floor has a fully equipped print room, stone and clay sculpture studio, and children’s art room. With generous grants from the Bergen County Division of Historic and Cultural Affairs, the Art Center purchased and installed a handicap access lift which makes both levels wheel chair accessible. Affiliate Groups
The Art Center is home to four groups of professional artists who meet regularly, exhibit and share information about their various skills. Each group exhibits bi-annually at the Art Center’s Marcia Geltman Gallery, plans additional group shows at various venues in the tri-state area, and invites guest speakers for critiques and lectures.

We’re grateful to our community of artists and art lovers: volunteers, teachers, students, and more. With your help we are preserving not only our historic facility and organization, but a place and voice for American ideals of free speech, expression, and the gathering of many voices with civility and care.

Join us this summer make your mark for the freedoms we are so fortunate to enjoy and cherish!

The Art Center stone studio is a unique world unto itself. One of our flagship programs, a dedicated artisan group gathers here each week to carefully coax imaginings out of raw material.

A new class for introductory students will be forming with ACNNJ instructor and NYC Sculptor’s Guild Lead Simon Rigg.

Explore Northern New Jersey area in a whole new way… capture hidden the hidden gems around us with the time honored art of plein air painting. Learn how to efficiently take your art practice on location with our collegial group, and beyond. Receive expert guidance in all facets of this expansive approach.

Fridays (beginning 7/10). This session has a built-in back up plan for inclement weather: the group chooses either a make up date or a Friday afternoon in-studio session at the Art Center of Northern NJ.
