🐔🐶 Meet Boaz: Freedom Farm's Newest Employee 🐶🐔

This week was a hard one at Freedom Farm. We lost 14 chickens to a predator that dug underneath the coop.
So... we hired security.

Meet Boaz, our newest livestock guardian in training.
Tonight was his first introduction to the flock. Instead of barking, chasing, or causing chaos, he carefully watched them, sniffed them, laid down beside them, and even let one of the chicks come right up to his nose.

The chickens weren't quite sure what to think.
Boaz wasn't sure what to think either.
One minute he looked like, "These tiny feathered creatures need my protection."
The next minute he looked like, "Why are they walking under my bed?"

But every great farm dog has a first day on the job.
From losing 14 birds to watching this gentle giant begin to understand his purpose, we're reminded that God has a way of bringing hope in the middle of loss.

For now, Boaz is officially on duty...
although his current security strategy appears to be:
Sniff every chicken.
Make awkward eye contact.
Take a nap.
Repeat.

Raised with care. USDA inspected. Farm to table.

No farms. No food.

One of the things we loved most about dining at was seeing just how many local farms and producers are featured on their menu.
As farmers ourselves, that means a lot.
