FYI, stay weather alert tonight and in the morning! Our concert at 7pm is still on!

Dear MCSS Family,

Following the National Weather Service's guidance for predicted severe weather in northern Alabama early Thursday morning, we are prioritizing the safety of our students and staff. As a result, we are implementing a two-hour delay for the opening of MCSS campuses on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

To offer clarity on the implications of a two-hour delay, consider the following examples:

- If your child's bus typically picks up at 6:45 A.M., it will instead pick up at 8:45 A.M. on Thursday.
- School drop-off lines, typically opening at 7 A.M., will commence at 9 A.M. on Thursday.
- If a school starts typically at 8:30 A.M., it will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday.

Please note that afternoon dismissal times and bus routes will adhere to their regular schedules.

As you prepare for Thursday morning, we urge you to exercise caution on the roads and allow ample time for your commute. Rest assured, the safety of our school community is our top priority. We deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Your support is invaluable. Stay safe.

Early dismissal tomorrow. Stay safe, everyone!

Dear Parents of MCSS Students,

We are sharing an important message regarding the severe weather forecast for Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The National Weather Service forecast indicates a possibility of strong winds and heavy rain, large hail, and a chance of tornadic activity in the afternoon and evening hours, prompting MCSS to implement a "Heightened Awareness" approach.

In an abundance of caution, the Madison County School System will dismiss schools at the following times:

- Middle and High Schools at 11:45 AM.
- Pre-K, Elementary, Intermediate, and K-8 schools at 12:45 PM.
- MCSS will adjust bus routes accordingly.
- All after-school activities are canceled on Tuesday.
- All ACAP Testing is postponed for Tuesday.

Congratulations to our Buckhorn Middle School Concert choir who performed at the State Choral Performance Assessment! They sang beautifully and earned an Excellent rating on stage (we were four points away from a Superior!) and a Superior rating in sightreading!!! These scores are also the highest scores BMS choir has earned in SCHOOL HISTORY! 🎉🎊🎉🎊

These young singers represented themselves so well today and Mrs. Ricks and I could not be more proud of them!

SWEEPSTAKES!!! Congratulations to our Buckhorn High School Concert Choir for receiving a “SUPERIOR” rating from every judge in both our concert and our sightreading! I am so unbelievably proud of these singers for coming together and making some seriously amazing music together!

A quote from one of our judges, “Great solid foundation with lots of nice intricacies and nuances and DETAILED WORK.”

Wow!!! What a musical 3 day adventure in Birmingham for the 2024 All-State Festival! We are so fortunate to have such talented singers at BMS and BHS representing us at this prestigious and competitive event! Congratulations to Annabelle, Natalie, Aubrie, Colson, and JR!

And thank you to an amazing group of chaperones who helped make this journey so memorabke for our kids! Go Bucks!

Come on out to Birmingham tomorrow and support our all state singers!!!!

This Saturday, March 2, our amazing all-state singers will be performing at the BJCC Concert Hall at 12:00pm. Doors open to the public at 11:15am and this concert is FREE! Our amazing singers would love to see you in the audience! And a bonus, when the concert is over, head on across the Skywalk to Legacy Arena to support our great basketball team in the championship! What a great weekend to support so many of our amazing students.
