Congratulations to Mr. Matthew Parkin, Principal of Buckhorn High School!
This morning, the Madison County Schools Board of Education officially approved Mr. Parkin as the new principal of Buckhorn High School.
Mr. Parkin brings 13 years of experience in public education and a proven record of leadership focused on academic excellence, student growth, and promoting positive school culture.
Most recently, Mr. Parkin served as principal of Meridianville Middle School. During his time with Madison County Schools, he has earned a reputation for fostering student achievement, supporting school growth, and building positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
Throughout his career, Mr. Parkin has served in a variety of educational roles, including teaching Biology, AP Physics, and Physical Science, serving as a Science Interventionist and ACT Specialist, and serving as an assistant principal in both Baldwin County Schools and Thomasville City Schools.
Mr. Parkin has been widely recognized for his dedication to student achievement and college readiness, providing ACT tutoring and leading ACT Boot Camps throughout the southern region of Alabama to help students strengthen their academic skills and prepare for future opportunities.
In addition to his work in the classroom and administration, Mr. Parkin has coached volleyball, basketball, and football at both the varsity and middle school levels. His experience in instructional leadership, college and career readiness, and student athletics uniquely positions him to successfully lead Buckhorn High School.
Mr. Parkin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education, and an Instructional Leadership certification from the University of South Alabama.
Mr. Parkin and his wife, Katie, relocated to Madison County in 2023 and are proud to call the community home. Together, they have three children: Madilyn, Rhett, and Allen.
As he begins this new role, Mr. Parkin shares, “I look forward to partnering with students, families, faculty, and community stakeholders as we continue the tradition of excellence at Buckhorn High School. Together, we will foster a culture where students are challenged academically, supported personally, and prepared for future success.”
