Can we talk about the REAL struggle of owning an intact male Standard Poodle in a MCC? πŸ˜‚πŸ’€

Welcome to another episode of:

✨ THE P*E BRACELET CHRONICLES ✨

Nobody warned me that maintaining beautiful bracelets would also mean becoming a full-time p*e prevention and damage-control specialist. 🫠

Dozer will go outside, lift his leg, and somehow choose ONE. SINGLE. BLADE. OF. GRASS. 🌱

And that ONE blade of grass apparently has the engineering capabilities to redirect the entire stream directly onto his front bracelet.

Sir. There is an ENTIRE YARD.

But my personal favorite is when he decides he’s done and just… walks away.

Exceptβ€”

HE IS STILL P*EING. πŸ˜πŸ’€

So now he’s casually strolling along, his winky is flopping back and forth like an unattended garden hose, and we’ve got a full-blown sprinkler system happening underneath the dog. πŸ’¦πŸ«Ÿ

Front bracelet? P*E.
Rear bracelet? P*E.
Opposite rear bracelet that shouldn’t have even been involved in this situation?

✨ SOMEHOW ALSO P*E. ✨

And before anyone comes for me:

YES, I own all the covers. πŸ˜‚
Do I always utilize them? Absolutely not.

Because sometimes I just want my dog to go outside and p*e without having to suit him up for a hazardous-materials operation first. 😭

And YES, I’m a groomer.
YES, he gets bathed regularly.
YES, those bracelets get washed even MORE regularly.

But do I particularly enjoy touching p*e-soaked poodle hair multiple times a day?

No. No I do not. πŸ˜‚

Apparently this is what love looks like when you own an intact male poodle in coat: maintaining beautiful hair while following him around whisper-yelling…

β€œDOZER. YOU’RE STILL P*EING. STOP WALKING.” πŸ’€πŸ˜‚

But I guess we compromise for those we love. πŸ₯΄β€οΈπŸ©

Please tell me the other intact male poodle owners are also out here fighting for their lives in The P*e Bracelet Chronicles. πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦

What is Sebaceous Adenitis?

Sebaceous Adenitis (SA) is a hereditary skin disease in which the sebaceous glands become inflamed, often leading to progressive loss of hair. The disease is primarily seen in Standard Poodles, Akitas, and Samoyeds, although there have been reported cases in a number of other breeds and mixed breeds as well. The disease can develop in a wide age range, with age of onset documented as early as 1 year and as late as 12 years.

There is no DNA test available to genotypically detect SA. Currently, diagnosis is based on skin biopsy samples. Because the age of onset varies, and since this is only a phenotypic test reflecting a point in time, retesting is recommended every 1 to 2 years for dogs used in breeding programs.

Spent an 1.5 on maintenance for this boy… just so he could immediately go roll around in the grass. πŸ˜‚ Dog logic is unreal. 🌱

BUT… Dozer free stacked for me for the first time today! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ We’ve definitely got some tweaking to do, but seeing it start to click is the coolest feeling. So proud of this boy!

Not every training session happens in a class or a show ring. Sometimes it’s simply exploring new places, taking in new sights and sounds, and letting Dozer learn that the world is a fun place to be. Today was all about confidence building, making memories, and soaking up an adventure day with my boys. πŸ₯ΉπŸŒ³πŸƒ

Every little outing is another step toward the dog I know he can become.
