Children's Learning Center at Mitchell College In our tranquil setting, we cultivate curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.

The CLC curriculum is nested in its environmentally rich surroundings and rooted in principles that make children partners in the learning process.

We are nearing the end of our Nature and Art Summer Camp! We had an end of summer art show entitled "Home is Where the Heart Is" to celebrate all our students' wonderful creations!

The title is a reflection of families and student comments about how the CLC quickly felt like home!

Included are works representative of homes of students, animals, insects and sea creatures. It also features self portraits and homes that include portraits of family members created using wooden pegs.

We included an experiential art piece which is a replica of the CLC building decorated collaboratively by each classroom. The little house is large enough for students to enter and play together in!

Big thank you to our teachers Ms. Sam, Ms. Mandi, Ms. Koren and Ms. Sarah G for all their encouragement, guidance and dedication to working with students to create these pieces!

Today we welcomed back Lynette Fisher, Site Administrator, Southeastern Region for the Amasa Day House, Hempsted House and Palmer Warner House and Connecticut Landmarks and Kimberly Manganella, Lead Educator and Interpreter for Connecticut Landmarks Southeastern Region.

They created a fabulous presentation on planting vegetables and fabric dying using beets! They talked about how fabric was dyed in olden days, what vegetables people planted and explained all the parts of plants and flowers. Each child went home with a pack of seeds and a coloring page including words used during the presentation.

It was a fabulous event and we are so grateful to partner with them.🌸🌸🌸

What a wonderful time we spent together at the beach! We saw 3 horseshoe crabs, a hermit crab, a jelly fish and lots of little crabs!

We had a wonderful week here at the CLC! We learned all about birds. We made a human sized bird's nest from recycled materials. Students contemplated what they might want to have in their own nests and how it might feel to be a bird.

Students also created their own story about a (class named) bird called, "Woodstock Pop Pop Juju". The book included space to draw pictures of the bird's adventure!

We enjoyed a lovely outdoor reading by a "Mystery Reader" who is an older sibling of a student who did such a wonderful job! We had a wonderful visit from our Stairs readers Mark, Declan and Henry also held outdoors.

Students said goodbye to Ms. Julia, our Mitchell Early Childhood student soon to be graduate. We will all miss her but know she will go on to do great things!

We enjoyed snack outside, karaoke and a fun story time at the Mitchell Library with
Katherine Nazarian, Director, Library & Information Services.

Children picked dandelions, created construction sites and tried to guess what color Ms. Mandi's bulb would be!
