With Spirit Week right around the corner, we’re getting ready to bring the Williams spirit! As we look ahead to a week full of school pride, we’re excited to recognize our JV captains for Soccer and Cross Country and the leadership they bring to their teams throughout the fall season.

Williams was on the road this weekend!

On Saturday, our Student Ambassadors volunteered at the Touch-A-Truck event at Grossman Chevrolet in Old Saybrook, lending a hand with face painting throughout the afternoon.

On Sunday, members of our Service Committee participated in the annual Safe Futures Safe Walk, supporting the New London-based nonprofit and its work to stop abuse, restore hope, and provide resources for survivors throughout Southeastern Connecticut.

From volunteering at local events to supporting organizations making an impact in our region, our students are finding meaningful ways to serve beyond the Williams campus.

One of the ways Williams intentionally connects students across grade levels is through our Mentor/Mentee Program. Every Middle School student is paired with an Upper School mentor, creating meaningful relationships that help younger students feel known, supported, and connected to the broader School community.

On Wednesday, mentors and mentees gathered for their first snack meeting of the year, getting to know one another, sharing what their perfect day would look like, and beginning to plan for the annual Mentor/Mentee Halloween Assembly.

History starts close to home at The Williams School. All sixth graders begin their journey through history with Local History, taught by Mr. Martin and Head of School Mr. Fader, exploring the people, places, and stories that shaped the community around them.

This week, we were thrilled to welcome Mary Sherman Lycan ’64 back to Williams for her annual presentation, “The Experience of Jonathan Brooks, 1781.” Through the story of Jonathan Brooks, students learned more about New London during the Revolutionary War and the history that unfolded right here in our community.

Their learning will continue during an upcoming Day of Exploration trip to Fort Griswold, where students will build on what they have studied by exploring the site and its role in the region’s Revolutionary War history.

We’re excited to introduce our 2026–27 Theater Captains, Ace Bairos ’27 and Hogan Porter ’28! Selected by members of this fall’s production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” Ace and Hogan will represent the Theater Department as student leaders throughout the year.

Our Service Committee met for the first time yesterday and got straight to work planning community service initiatives for the fall. We’re excited to see these ideas take shape and to watch our students extend their learning beyond the classroom by giving back and making a difference in the community.
