Mitchell College welcomed Governor Ned Lamont, legislators, community leaders, and members of the Mitchell and Southeastern Connecticut communities recently to Michael's Dairy at Mitchell College.

President Tracy Espy was grateful for the opportunity to thank the governor for Connecticut’s continued investment in students through the Roberta B. Willis Scholarship and Dual Credit funding—critical support that expands access and creates pathways to college and careers.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and the continued commitment to Connecticut’s students, communities, and workforce.

FUTURE OF POSSIBILITIES For Rachel Casasnovas her recent experience as a legislative intern with the Connecticut General Assembly fed her interests in psychology, history, and government all at once—and opened a world of possibilities!

UNLOCKING POTENTIAL, BUILDING CONFIDENCE Participants in Mitchell College’s 2026 Jumpstart Program left with practical tools to use for their transition toward college—plus new friendships and lasting memories of time spent in the greater New London community.

The July program welcomed 30 high school seniors and incoming college freshmen. Students chose one of three tracks—Art, Science, or Writing—to reinforce college readiness. When not in class, activities included stargazing, playing in and on the water, cultural experiences, and, of course, getting to know one another!
