In the wake of a destructive storm that tore through our small town, we have been reminded once again of the incredible strength and spirit of Southeast Iowa.
We have seen trees come down, power lost, vehicles damaged, and homes impacted, but we have also seen something equally powerful: people showing up for one another. Our community has rallied in ways that are truly humbling, with neighbors helping neighbors, businesses offering resources, and countless people lending a hand wherever needed.
Our fellow schools have been incredible as well. The Mt. Pleasant School District generously allowed us to use freezer space to save some of our most essential food supplies, and today, Pekin CSD sent four custodians to help us prepare for the start of the school year. We are so grateful for their time and teamwork!
This is what it means to be part of Southeast Iowa. When one community is hurting, others step up. We may be small communities, but we have big hearts.
From all of us at the New London Community School District, thank you. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community and a region that take care of their own.
