Congratulations to Marty Wray on being named to the VHSL Class 3 All-State 1st Team.

Marty led New Kent to a 19-3 season, finishing as the Bay Rivers District Player of the Year, Region 3A 1st Team, and BCAV Richmond Area 1st Team — averaging 25 points per game on 64% effective field goal shooting and 42% from three.

Marty has been putting in the work for seven years — in the gym, on the court, and in the weight room. He earned every bit of this through commitment to getting better every single day. From a kid in the program to the best player in the district, his growth is a testament to what happens when talent meets relentless work ethic.

What makes it even better is that Marty continues to represent New Kent the right way. He's the kind of player that little kids in the gym look up to — and he's worthy of that.

Proud of you, Marty. Well deserved.

Looking for some good travel basketball? Announcing our NKBA Blazers travel team tryouts!

Our youth teams will start practicing this month and will play tournaments in April - June. Our high school team will play through July. Our format is two practices a week and two tournaments each month. We have experienced high school coaches and college athletes working with our teams.

Marty was the best player in the district this season — scoring at all three levels, defending at an elite level, and leading this team to a 1 seed in the region playoffs. Player of the Year honors are well deserved.

Kris did a little bit of everything for this team all season long. He led us in deflections, was second in assists and steals, and filled up the stat sheet in ways that don't always make headlines but absolutely win games. The definition of a team-first player.
