Father Matt taught a lesson last week to Mrs. Melanie’s 8th Grade Honors Literature class to help them prepare to read the story “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes. He discussed answers to the questions: What is intelligence? Is it ethical to experiment on the brain to improve intelligence? Should we try to manipulate God’s design through experimentation?

Back to School Night gave our families the opportunity to step into their child’s shoes and learn a little more about their school day and what’s ahead this year.

Why are we Catholic? It’s a question we may hear from others—and one we may even ask ourselves.

After teaching at Catholic High for many years, Mr. Justin Conover, Religion Administrator, wanted to give our faculty and students a resource to help them explore that question. Why We’re Catholic by Trent Horn of Catholic Answers is a clear, approachable, and engaging question-and-answer book that invites readers to explore the Catholic faith with curiosity and confidence.

Because questions lead to more questions—and that’s a good thing. Questioning isn’t the problem; not asking questions is.

Mr. Conover’s hope and prayer for this school year is that our faculty and students will find meaningful answers that lead to even more questions, deeper conversations, and a stronger understanding of their faith. ❤️
