At Solebury, photography students learn from a working photographer.
Kelli Abdoney spent nearly a decade working in journalism in Glasgow before coming to Solebury. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, her own photography explores landscape, people and the stories held within a place. Her work has been exhibited in Scotland and Pennsylvania, and she has taught workshops and worked as an artist in residence in northern Scotland.
In Solebury’s photography program, students work with both traditional 35mm film and darkroom printing as well as digital photography. They photograph on location, critique their work together and develop portfolios for college and beyond.
For Kelli, photography is about more than making a beautiful image. Students learn to notice what others might overlook, tell stories, communicate ideas and develop their own visual voice.
