Southern's Multicultural Center serves as a resource for the university and the community in promoting an awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity.

The Multicultural Center was established in 1991 to promote and implement multicultural programming. It is a positive force in the lives of African American, Asian American, Latino/Hispanic American and Native American students at Southern Connecticut State University.

Join us for a dedicated listening and feedback space designed to center your voice.

Your Voice at the Center of the Identity Centers invites undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and campus community members to connect directly with the Director of the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE). This is an opportunity to share your thoughts, experiences, and ideas as we collectively reflect on the future of the CIE and its Identity Centers—the Multicultural Center (MCC), the Sexuality & Gender Equality (SAGE) Center, and the Interfaith Center (IFC).

This session is an opportunity to actively shape the spaces that support our campus community. Your feedback will help inform how we evolve our programs, environments, and approaches to better meet the needs of students and the broader SCSU community.

It is also a space to help guide the work of those who serve within these centers. Insights shared will contribute to how we think about the roles, responsibilities, and impact of staff within the Identity Centers and the Center for Intercultural Engagement at large—ensuring that our work remains responsive, relevant, and community-informed.

As part of the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this conversation is also about looking ahead—together. Your voice will directly contribute to how we imagine, strengthen, and reimagine the role of the Identity Centers as we move forward.
This space is grounded in listening, reflection, and forward-thinking dialogue. Whether you have specific suggestions or simply want to share your perspective, your voice matters in helping shape what comes next.
Come as you are. Stay for as long as you’re able.

Join the Multicultural Center in celebrating AAPI Heritage Month through creativity and cultural expression at Threads of Tradition: Tie-Dye & AAPI Cultural Expression.
Across many Asian and Pacific Islander cultures, textile art has long been used to tell stories of identity, community, and tradition. This hands-on experience invites you to explore these influences while creating your own custom tie-dye piece inspired by patterns, colors, and meanings from across the AAPI diaspora.
Stop by, get creative, and leave with something uniquely yours! Limited shirts available—be sure to grab yours early! Once they’re gone..., they’re gone!

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Multicultural Center invites you to stop by and take a moment to honor the women who have had a positive impact in your life. ❤️

Whether it’s a mother, sister, mentor, friend, teacher, or another important figure in your life, this program offers a chance to recognize the impact that women have had on our journeys.

During this drop-in event, attendees will have the opportunity to create a small gift bag filled with thoughtful items and a personalized note to share with one of the heroic women in their lives. It’s a simple but meaningful way to express gratitude, appreciation, and love 💌

We warmly invite all student leaders to join us for a dedicated Listening Session to reflect on the Heritage Ball planning and coordination process and to share open, honest feedback about your experience. This gathering will also serve as a space to begin generating ideas, suggestions, and creative vision for CultureFest, taking place on April 22nd, 2026. As we begin to generate momentum around CultureFest, we hope to build it in partnership with you — centering your insights, strengthening coordination efforts, and ensuring our spring programming reflects the energy and excellence of our student organizations. Your voices, perspectives, and continued involvement remain incredibly valuable to this work! Join us as we connect, share updates, reflect together, and collectively shape what comes next. Your leadership matters, and your voice will help guide the future of our campus traditions!
