The Gateway Early Learning Center is now accepting applications for preschool enrollment for children ages 3–5.

As CT State Gateway's campus-based laboratory school, the Early Learning Center provides a high-quality learning environment where children are supported academically, socially, and emotionally while serving as a training site for future early childhood educators.

Eligible families may qualify for a sliding fee scale through the 2026 Early Start CT Fee Determination Guidelines.

At 6:30 a.m., Dr. Ann E. Garrett Robinson called one of her students.
Sean Hardy wasn't expecting a wake-up call from a professor. But Dr. Robinson wasn't about to let him give up on his education.

Morning after morning, she encouraged him to get to class and keep moving forward. Long before Sean believed in himself, she believed in him.
Sean would go on to graduate, build a career in education, and continue serving the New Haven community. Yet decades later, one memory stands out above the rest: the phone ringing before sunrise and Dr. Robinson on the other end determined to see him succeed.

Today, Sean reflects on the lasting impact Dr. Robinson had on his life. To him, those calls meant more than just a reminder to get to class, they were reminders that someone cared.
