oh Providence, my lovely former home in Old Lyme has been on the block recently! how well i remember that beautiful day in November when i married my dear Evelyn in the bay window on the south side of what was then her father's house, and the many happy summers we spent there as a family!

Edward's beloved tutor, then brother-in-law, then colleague as Yale professor. they were also neighbors, living across the street from one another in New Haven their entire adult lives. i'm sure Edward was proud that "Theo" was so honored on the campus, right in front of the library that they both helped to build!

RIP to the last holder of the Salisbury Chair of Sanskrit at Yale.
The American Oriental Society mourns the death, Friday, January 4, 2019, of Stanley Insler, Salisbury Professor Emeritus of Sanskrit and Comparative Philology at Yale University and esteemed member of the Society. Serving in official capacity as Secretary-Treasurer from 1976–1982, Treasurer from 1982–1986, and President in 1997–1998, Stanley also served unofficially, with typical acuity and vision, as the investor genius behind AOS’s well-being. Requiescat in pace.
