Congratulations to Prof. Minjae Kim on winning the 2026 Best Entrepreneurship Paper Award from the Academy of Management's Organization and Management Theory Division. 🏆

Prof. Kim's winning paper examines a challenge many startups face: how the departure of a founder affects employee retention when a company hasn't yet built out formal structures or an established reputation.

This marks his third time receiving this honor, having also won in 2021 and 2024. His research focuses on when, why, and how social actors—including individuals and firms—coordinate their actions.

Congratulations to Deborah Small, the Adrian C. Israel Professor of Marketing, on becoming Director of Graduate Studies, effective July 1. She succeeds Prof. Matthew Spiegel, who led the school's doctoral program for the past 11 years.

As director, Prof. Small will oversee PhD admissions, doctoral student program policy, and student progress and support, and serve as the main liaison between doctoral students and the school’s administration and faculty.

We thank Prof. Spiegel for his years of dedicated service and welcome Prof. Small to this important new role!

Anthony Argenziano ’26 always wanted to work for a professional baseball team. As a Silver Scholar, he pursued his MBA at Yale SOM straight from undergrad to build the skills needed for a sports management career.

Classmates with years of industry experience gave him a real-world perspective, and SOM's Career Development Office helped him navigate the baseball industry's hiring process. Now, in his operations role for the Pittsburgh Pirates, he draws directly on courses like Negotiations, Economics, and The Workforce—especially when negotiating with player agents or thinking about team structure.

His advice for making the most of the SOM experience: "If you pour into this community, it will give back to you."

🏆Congratulations to Master of Advanced Management (MAM) students Junzhe Shen '26 and Yang Zhao '26, who teamed up with two MBA students from HEC Paris to take first place at the 2026 INNOVATEChina competition in Shanghai!

Competing against 65 other teams from around the world, their team developed a forward-thinking business proposal for tire company Michelin China focused on data-driven fleet insights, circularity, and electric-vehicle platform partnerships—and walked away with a $10,000 prize.

🩺Cherisse Berry ’28 is a trauma surgeon and health equity researcher; vice chair of academic affairs and professor of surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School; and director of research for the Eric Muñoz Trauma Center at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.

🩺Desmond Sutton ’28 is an obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist; associate chief medical officer for process improvement and director of obstetric quality and patient safety at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside in New York City; and an assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine.

🩺Jessica Horstmann ’28 is a nurse practitioner, enrolled member of the Blackfeet tribe, and mobile health clinical lead at the Native American Community Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

All members of the MBA for Executives Class of 2028, they are committed to making equity work sustainable within institutions, addressing the root causes of disparities in underserved communities, and building healthcare systems that work better for everyone.

After years working in the nonprofit sector, Emma Pred-Sosa ’27 is spending her summer diving into healthcare consulting as a summer associate at Chartis in New York City, helping manage a merger between two hospital systems.

From building financial models to researching hospital funding streams, Emma says the skills she built through the Yale Center for Customer Insights Discovery Projects—like stakeholder interviews, data analysis, and clear communication—have paid off every day on the job. She's also been soaking up New York City life, reconnecting with friends and leaning on a strong Yale alumni community at Chartis.

Congratulations to Prof. Song Ma on winning the 2025 Jensen Prize! 🎉

This prestigious award from the Journal of Financial Economics honors his paper "Data Sales and Data Dilution," which explores how to value data and design the markets where it's traded—important questions in the age of AI.

This is Prof. Ma's second time winning this honor.🏆Join us in congratulating him on this achievement!

Only about half of Americans now trust the FDA, down from roughly 75% just two years ago. Why?

According to Yale SOM's Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, Megan Ranney and Sten Vermund of the Yale School of Public Health, Patricia Greenstein of Harvard Medical School, and Steven Tian of the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute, the drop is less about competence and more about doubts over the agency's independence from political influence.

The authors lay out a path forward: transparency, scientific rigor, consistent standards, and modernized regulatory systems, plus renewed attention to food safety.

Last week, they arrived on campus for orientation and residency, marking the start of their 22-month program. These 77 leaders come from healthcare, engineering, nonprofits, finance, entrepreneurship, and beyond—bringing an average of 15 years of professional experience with them.

This new class is 42% women, 43% U.S. students of color, and students representing military service, international backgrounds, and advanced degrees in areas such as medicine, law, public health, science, and nursing.
