At the Free Market on June 13, Health Leaders Alicia, Katia, and Kaiya shared their project, EmpowerFlow, by distributing menstrual kits and providing education on menstrual health and the range of available menstrual products.

By helping address period poverty through education and access to essential supplies, EmpowerFlow promoted health, dignity, and equity within our community.

CARE Health Leaders taught New Haven residents about planting seedlings with their project “Rooting for You” at the Dixwell Q House Cityseed Farmer’s Market on Saturday, July 11, 2026.  About 25 community members left with some of the following types of plants: potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and herbs.  They were given seedlings in planters filled with soil and tips on how to grow them at home.

On Sunday 6/15/26 CARE Health Leaders Cristal Castro, Anna Fearnley and Tammy Imre carried out their “Essentials of Hope” Project after the “Chapel on the Green” service.  This ministry is run by Trinity on the Green under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Luk de Volder and Rev. Heidi Thorsen.  The Health Leaders distributed Health and Hygiene Kits containing menstrual products, notepads/pens, reusable water bottles, lotion, wipes, granola bar and community resources. CARE's evaluation team engaged community participants in surveys regarding their experience with the event.  It is estimate that between 40-50 community members engaged with the activity that day and 65 bags were distributed.  Leftover supplies to be given to Trinity on the Green and the New Haven PRIDE Center.
