Compassion, Emotional Regulation & Human Connection Through Living Art

We’re excited to welcome Marietta D. Murton, founder, artist, and social entrepreneur behind The Inner Bean Project™, for a unique and interactive conversation about compassion, emotional awareness, and human connection.

Through art, storytelling, and neuroscience-informed concepts, Marietta will introduce simple ways to create space between reaction and response, practice self-compassion during stressful moments, and strengthen empathy in our everyday interactions.

And there’s a special touch! 💚 Each participant will receive a handcrafted Inner Bean created specifically for this event—a little piece of living art and a tangible reminder to pause, reflect, and respond with intention.

A Crafty Evening with Tangular Irby!

Join us for a special evening session with author, educator, and Gee’s Bend descendant Tangular Irby as she explores the rich history and artistry of Black quilt making.

Drawing from her family legacy and her book, Pearl and her Gee’s Bend Quilt, Irby will discuss how quilting serves as a powerful medium for storytelling, bridging generations and preserving ancestral memories. This community event offers a unique look at how "stitched stories" function as both a vibrant art form and a living record of history.

This event is open to all who wish to attend!

On Wednesday, June 3rd, students, faculty, staff, and Yale community members gathered for the Women in STEM: Breaking Barriers. Building Futures panel discussion. The event featured distinguished Biomedical Engineering faculty — Anjelica Gonzalez, Kathryn Miller-Jensen, Cristina Rodriguez, and Shreya Saxena — who shared their career journeys, research interests, and perspectives on advocacy within their field.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our panelists, attendees, and event organizers for making this a meaningful and impactful discussion.

Marc Brackett, Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and professor at the Yale Child Study Center, is a leading expert in emotional intelligence and author of Permission to Feel and Dealing wirh Feeling.
He is also the developer of RULER, an evidence-based framework used in over 5,000 schools worldwide to build stronger, more emotionally intelligent communities.

💫Together with Pinterest cofounder Ben Silbermann, Marc co-created the award-winning How We Feel app, which has helped millions build emotional awareness and improve well-being.
