Literacy is built through conversations, play, routines, and everyday moments.
Over the past 18 months, All Our Kin’s New York team partnered with Robin Hood to support 50 family child care educators and their assistants through the Literacy Remote Coaching Pilot.
The pilot was designed to support educators in strengthening their practices in pre-literacy, early language, and literacy development by building on the knowledge and expertise they already bring to their programs.
Through coaching, collaboration, and reflection, educators explored new strategies to help children develop the language and literacy skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
This celebration honored the dedication, growth, and accomplishments of every educator who completed the pilot. Congratulations to all 50 participants!🎉 We are inspired by your commitment to children and families every day.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this pilot and celebration possible:
— The Robin Hood Foundation for investing in this vital work.
— Dr. Junlei Li and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Harvard GSE) for their partnership and invaluable contributions to the Literacy Remote Coaching Pilot
— Jaime-Jin Lewis, founder of Wiggle Room | AutoEnroll | NY, for serving as our wonderful emcee.
— Yessenia Rosario-Adon (QUALITYstarsNY) and Tinnycua Williams (Aspire Registry - Aspire Registry) for sharing their insights as speakers.
— Sesame Workshop, Lakeshore Learning, and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services’ Literacy Trail for providing valuable resources and support for educators.
— East Harlem Scholars Academy (East Harlem Tutorial Program & East Harlem Scholars Academies) for generously hosting us in such a beautiful space, and for providing refreshments.
— Our incredible NY and All Our Kin team members, including coaches Sandra Massey & Kemberly Benedith and the implementation team, for their unwavering support throughout this journey.
Together, we’re helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
