Dearest and Most Beloved Miss Anderson,
I meant to write this letter much sooner, but time has been at a premium lately - and I did not want to write it in a rush.
Let me try to express how much your wire and even more your presence meant at my Metropolitan Debut.
I want to tell you how much you contributed to the success of it. I have copied and respected your every move and musical and personal growth in this world since I was ten years old. Perhaps you don't remember, but I spoke to you on the night of your Metropolitan Debut and thanked you for what you had done for many others and myself.
Now, I write to thank you from the bottom of my heart again. Your name belongs with my Mama + Daddy in spirit and what it contributed to my peace of mind and sense of direction on the night of my debut.
I hope we can see each other in the Fall when I return to New York from Europe.
Until then - God Bless you and keep you. You were and still are my "Beacon Light" - straight ahead!!
With my warm love and profound admiration,
Leontyne Price
