2026 Art Senior Spotlight
Zoé Schichtel

Parents:
Melissa Nelson, Lisa Brandau, Jerry Brandau, Dr. Séval Schichtel, Dr. Björn Schichtel

Activities Zoe has been involved in throughout high school were Art, speech, theatre, dnd/nerd club.

Zoe wants to go into law or go into politics after high school.

Zoé says her inspiration for art making comes from “Melissa Nelson and Ryan McInroy definitely helped me so much with how I view and work on art, even though they didn’t inspire my art making directly, they played an important role in forming the artist I am. I now have no ideas; I’m too shy to try, and I stop getting as frustrated as before if something doesn’t work out, and all in all I just stopped thinking in the ‘art rules’ that I got taught in Germany; I just do whatever I want. They helped me improve my art on so many different levels, and I am beyond grateful for the teachers and mentors they were to me.”

Zoé’s favorite projects were either the Monet mural she was honored to do or her political mixed-media project she did in independent art. It was called '161.'

Zoé’s favorite memories are any moments she got to share with the people she met in the art room; she’s so thankful for all the lovely people she got to meet; they truly made her exchange year unforgettable. She will miss them so incredibly much and will always look back happily on all the memories they made together.

Zoé would tell future art students about art that “Your art isn’t bad; you just haven’t broken enough 'rules.'"
