Looking for a safe and authentic way to get your young horse-lover involved with horses? I have just a few spots left in our next beginner course starting NEXT WEEK!

Hello, Horse! is a five week course that introduces our foundational horsemanship curriculum.

Drawing on my background in child behavior and development, I’ve spent ten years teaching horsemanship to beginners.

This is real horsemanship and real life skills for children ages 8-11.

We'll spend most of their time on the ground learning how horses think, move, and communicate.

Pony rides during each session give students the chance to carry new skills into the saddle, reinforcing confidence and connection.

Students end the course prepared to safely join our regular lesson program!

I often give the instruction “walk with purpose” when coaching students new to groundwork. And to be honest, it doesn’t work very well.

Most people start doing some variation of stomping harder. Which is more expressive, but still earthbound and sometimes a little wacky!

Clinics can be an amazing way to challenge yourself and leave feeling inspired and connected. But a public format can also feel rushed, busy, and high pressure.

Weekend retreats at Hideaway are designed personally for you and your horse. Completely private lessons, no auditors, flexibility to explore how your body and nervous system interface with your horse.

Two solo riders per weekend, or bring two horse friends for a group getaway.

After about 7395 (actually fourteen) hours on mostly the New York State Thruway, we are at the Creekside Eventing Complex outside of Cleveland, Ohio with two horses (Bernie and Moxie) for a joint clinic with Celeste Lazaris and Yogi Sharp on the bidirectional relationship between hoof balance and posture.

The Core Premise: The hoof is the boundary between the horse and the ground. The shape and balance of the hoof is determined by the horse’s static and dynamic posture or movement patterns. AND the horse’s posture and movement is shaped by the way the hoof contacts the ground. SO if you want to improve hoof balance, you have to consider horse’s posture. And if you want to improve the horse’s posture you have to consider their hoof balance.

After morning lectures, each demo horse is evaluated by Yogi and Celeste together. Then each horse gets “before” radiographs of all four feet. Yogi does a full corrective trim/shoeing based on the x-rays before taking “after” images to compare angles and alignment. After their feet are balanced, Celeste works on each horse’s posture.

We get to watch the changes! It’s only day one and I’m already blown away.
