πΈ Bus Safety Reminder from New Glarus School District πΈ
As the school year begins, we want to remind everyone of the importance of school bus safety. Keeping our students safe on their way to and from school is something we can all take part in.
Here are a few key reminders:
β’ Flashing red lights = STOP at least 20 feet away, from both directions (unless youβre on the other side of a divided highway).
β’ Flashing amber lights = SLOW DOWNβthe bus is about to stop.
β’ Stay alert for children walking, biking, or waiting at bus stopsβthey can be unpredictable.
β’ Drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus face steep fines and demerit points.
Parents and caregivers can also help by teaching children to:
β’ Wait a safe distance from the curb until the bus stops.
β’ Always cross in front of the bus (never behind), and make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
β’ Stay seated and face forward while riding.
Letβs work together to keep every student safe this year!
