Sincere condolences to our classmate, Debbie (Barnhart) Kuhn, whose father, Pearl "Junior" Barnhart passed away Wednesday.

Pearl "Junior" Barnhart, Jr., of New Cumberland, West Virginia, passed away at his home on Wednesday March 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and devotion to family.

Born on November 15, 1935, in St. Mary's, West Virginia, Junior was the youngest of two boys born to the late Pearl and Hazeline Schultz Barnhart.

Junior was a soft-spoken and kind man, known for his strong work ethic and sharp mind, particularly his talent with building homes. He spent many years working in the Weirton Steel mill and on the Weirton Steel railroad, where he served as a brakeman, conductor, and ultimately earned his position as an engineer through dedication and study. Following changes in the industry, he continued his career in the boiler house.

A man of many talents, Junior earned certification as a diesel mechanic and also drove a school bus, built homes, farmed land, and pursued various entrepreneurial ventures. He purchased and developed a 150-acre farm in New Cumberland, creating streets and building homes, many for his own family.

Junior served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War serving in Germany and France.

He was a faithful member of the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene, where his faith remained a cornerstone of his life. It was through church that he met his wife, Noreen Sue Stewart Barnhart, whom he married on September 14, 1956. Sadly, after 67 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on June 24, 2023.

In his younger years, he was active in the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, where he helped build the Oakland fire station and later served as Fire Chief.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Junior was preceded in death by his brother, Richard O'Neal "Neal" Barnhart on May 29, 2022.

He will be remembered with love by his children: Jim (Teresa) Barnhart, Ron(Anne) Barnhart, Debbie (Chuck) Kuhn, and Judy (Dan) Garver; nine grandchildren, Rachelle (Geoff) Jenkins, Cara Kuhn, Emily (Kevin) Cowey, Alec Barnhart, Ben (Mandy) Garver, Matt (Lauren) Garver, Mitchell (Austin) Garver, Melissa Backus and Jessica Barnhart; eight grandchildren, Sam, Zach, Cale, Chase, Virginia, Zach, Miles and Emma.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene 475 Colliers Way Weirton.

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Weirton First Church of the Nazarene.

William (Bill) C. Robb, age 91, departed this world gently, enveloped by the warmth and love of his devoted wife, cherished daughters, and his loving family on February 12, 2026, as the winter sun set softly, marking the close of a life richly lived.

Bill was blessed with 4 daughters, Robin Goots (Paul) of Beckley, WV, Betsy Kuzio of Cincinnati, OH, Cathy Markowicz (Don) of New Cumberland, WV, and Susan Myers (Rick) of New Cumberland, WV. 8 granddaughters, Amanda (Erik) Daniels, Miranda Sitchanoff (Ted), Aimee (Ashton) Nelson, Leah (Brock) Estell, Mallory Markowicz, and Haylianne (Matt) Murray, Anastasia (Mason) Bennett, Lacey (Andrew) Malekovic, and 13 great-grandchildren, Kelty, Kaiya, Dean, Elle, Lucca, Elias, Nicco, Wyatt, Isaac, Oliver, Madison, Max, and Macy Jo.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clarence and Mary Robb, and 2 sisters

Betty Jane Rector and Dorothy Patrick.

Bill dedicated 37 years to the Weirton Steel Coke Plant, where he led with steady hands and a spirit of camaraderie, both as a supervisor and in Operations Services. He served as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Hancock County from 1968 to 1972 and as a member and President of the Hancock County Civil Service Commission for Deputy Sheriffs.

Bill was a pillar of the New Manchester V.F.D., serving as both President and Captain, guiding his fellow volunteers with courage and compassion and a member and deacon of the New Manchester Christian Church.

He was a member and past Master of New Cumberland Lodge #22 of Masons A.F.A.M., a member of the New Cumberland Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and Weirton Commander of Knight Templars. Bill was also a member of the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling and Northern Shrine Club.

Visitations are Sunday, Feb 15, 12-2 and 4-6, at Arner Funeral Chapel, Chester, WV. Monday, Feb 16, 2-4 and 6-8 at Arner Funeral Chapel, Chester, WV. Services at the Arner Funeral Chapel, Chester, WV, on Tuesday, February 17, at 1 pm. Bill will be laid to rest at the Union Cemetery in New Manchester, WV.

Minnie Jo Moore, 88, of Shinnston, WV passed away on January 15, 2026 at Eagle Point Healthcare Center. She was born July 30, 1937 in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Wilford Goff and Blanche Matheny. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rev. Stanely Moore.

Minnie is also preceded in death by two of her sons, Rex and Roy Moore; siblings Virginia “Gracie” Goff Straight, William Goff, Martha “Gail” Goff Shingleton, Milton Goff, Mamie “Mae” Goff Stark, Wilford Rosco “Jack” Goff Jr., Sarah Lee Goff Dawson, Milford “Jean” Goff Harris, Raymond “Max” Goff, Nathan “Rex” Goff, Ernest “Little Guy” Goff; and son-in-laws Gail Carson and Darrell Utt.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Moore (Mindy); daughters Ruby Elizabeth Carson and Olive Utt; sister Juanita Fortney; grandchildren Nicholas and Douglas Moore, Christy Carson, Philip Carson, Raymond Moore, Jeremy Moore, Beth Wallace, Amy Utt, and Katy Moore; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Minnie was employed by A. J’s Diner and Shinnston day care as a cook. She also worked as a care giver for the elderly. She was an active member of the Pine Bluff United Methodist Church where she held the role of United Methodist Women’s President. Minnie was also a member of the Pine Bluff CEOS.

In her spare time, Minnie enjoyed baking pies at the CEOS, cooking, camping, watching westerns, word puzzles, reading, quilting, cooking and sewing. She also loved her three cats, Snowball, Tinkerbell, and Fancy.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 2:00PM-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00AM with Rev. Elizabeth Carson officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

Sidney "Sid" (Lundy) McLaughlin
June 30, 1957-January 9, 2026

Sidney “Sid” McLaughlin, age 68, of New Cumberland, West Virginia, passed away on January 9th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the presence of deep love and comfort.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Sid was the beloved daughter of Earl “Blackie” and Ana Espinosa Lundy, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in New Cumberland and was a proud graduate of Oak Glen High School. Sid spent nearly a decade as a dedicated Retail Manager before discovering medical transcription, a career she pursued with care and pride until her retirement.
Sid married the love of her life, Dennis McLaughlin, and together they built a life rooted in partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their bond was evident to all who knew them.
She is survived by her daughters, Stacey Lundy Rix (Jeff) and Brenda Czyz (Nick); her beloved grandchildren, Lukas Kelleher (Kara), Noah Kelleher, Grace Geary (Matt), and Jackson Czyz; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Attalie Kelleher. Sid is also survived by her loving sisters, Ana (Don) Saffle, Gloria “Cookie” (Dick) McSwegin, Juanita “Nita” (Jim) Reinhold, and Dawn Cervi (fiancé - Blaise McConaghy), along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for Sarah Vanadis (Stephanie) and David Johnson, extended family by love.
Sid will be remembered for her remarkable strength, her gentle spirit, and her deep, unwavering compassion, especially for animals, particularly the stray and forgotten. She found joy in caring for others, tending to her beautiful flowers, spending time with family, and getting lost in the pages of her ever-growing library. Her devotion to her community and her volunteer work with TNR programs and local animal rescues touched countless lives, both human and animal alike.
A celebration of Sid’s life will be held at Turley Funeral Home, 109 North Chester Street, New Cumberland, WV, on January 17th from 7-9pm

Edward R. "Russ" Slack, 97, of Chester, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

Born on March 24, 1928, in Big Otter, West Virginia, Russ was the cherished son of the late Robert E. and Mary E. Hall Slack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Jackson Slack, whom he married in 1948, and by his brother, Charles Slack.

Russ was a proud graduate of Clay County High School, Class of 1945. He continued his education at Glenville State College, earning his bachelor's degree in 1949 and later a master's degree from West Virginia University in 1952. He devoted his life to education, beginning his teaching career at Man High School in 1949. He went on to teach at Clay County High School in 1951, Weir High School in 1952, and Wells High School from 1953 to 1963.

In 1963, Russ entered education administration as the first principal of Oak Glen High School, serving until 1975.

He then served Hancock County as Assistant Superintendent from 1975 to 1979 and Superintendent from 1979 until his retirement in 1989.

Throughout his career, Russ mentored hundreds of students and colleagues and was widely respected as a dedicated and inspiring educator and committed public servant.

Russ was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester.

He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and the many dear friends he made over the years.

A celebration of Russ's life will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Cesene. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from noon to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Mary Ann (Rogers) Tice

Mary Ann Tice, 68, of New Cumberland, passed away Thursday December 25, 2025. She was born on October 19, 1957, the daughter of the late Dale and Margaret (Utt) Rogers.

She was a 1975 graduate of Oak Glen, and was formerly employed at Weirton Shop and Save.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband Ronald Tice, of New Cumberland; a son, Christopher (Kayla) Tice, of Shadyside, Ohio, three grandchildren, Jackson Dale, Edith Rose and Oliver on the way. She is also survived by a brother, Dale Rogers Jr, of Pa. and a sister Deb Buchanan, of Brilliant, Ohio.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, from 3 pm. to time of funeral service at 5 pm.

Interment will be private at New Cumberland Cemetery.

Brian Earl Shreve, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his man cave at his home in Windsor Heights, WV, on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was sixty-nine years old. Brian was born on November 18, 1956, in Weirton, to Hiram Otto Shreve and Nelta Ilene Thompson.

Brian attended Oak Glen High School and dedicated his service as a proud member of the United States Army. Throughout his life, he became renowned in Ohio Valley for his exceptional skills as a brick and stone mason. His craftsmanship graced countless structures throughout the region and as far as the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai. A true expert in his trade, Brian’s work, transformed ordinary spaces into lasting legacies.

Brian was adventurous, quick-witted, and endowed with a heart as vast as his talents. He had an impressive work ethic, instilling in his family the importance of hard work and determination. He was known to do things his own way, never shying away from sharing a laugh, and his characteristic wit often left those around him in stitches. He genuinely enjoyed life, working hard, and playing even harder.

His generous spirit extended far beyond his family, touching the lives of many in his community. Brian was known for his random acts of kindness and often lent a helping hand, whether it was fixing a neighbor’s roof or providing a job to someone down on their luck.

Brian left behind a legacy of kindness and intelligence, a man who had an innate ability to uplift those around him. He would often say, “I should have been a cowboy,” reflecting his playful spirit and adventurous soul. Underneath his tough exterior, those who knew him understood the soft heart that truly defined him.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and David Shreve and sister Caron Paris.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife at home, Marisa Guzzetta Shreve whom he married on August 1, 1980, sons Christopher Shreve of Wheeling, Jesse Shreve and Nicholas Shreve of Windsor Hts., Brian “Boomer” Shreve of Martins Ferry, and Levi Shreve of Weirton, daughter Maggie (Chris) Virtue of Follansbee, his 14 grandchildren, Kendyll, Steven, Kaleb, Sofia, Mila, Mollie, Camilla, Dominic, Gunner, Eden, Cooper, Virginia, Emry, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his brother, Richard McVicker of Weirton, and sisters-in-law Monette Myers of Weirton, and Mary Beth Guzzetta (Tricia) of Pittsburgh, best friend Eric “Shaggy” Sandreth, his canine companion (that he never wanted), Groot, and many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Brian’s wish for cremation will be honored.

He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street Weirton.

Marisa and her family are inviting friends and family to gather and celebrate the life of this extraordinary man.
