🎶 Summer is a season of creativity and discovery at Muskingum.

While campus may be quieter, our faculty are hard at work pursuing research, scholarship, and projects that make an impact well beyond our classrooms.

Today, we're excited to feature Associate Professor of Music & Director of Bands, David Turrill, whose summer work is helping shine a light on the music of an early African American composer through a new concert band transcription. Building on collaborative research with 2026 Muskingum graduate Heather Dawson, this project celebrates an important musical legacy while bringing historic works to new audiences through live performances.
