The club is hitting the road!
We just wrapped the first week of rehearsals with this sensational cast for the 1st Broadway National tour of Buena Vista Social Club! This show demands a lot vocally from everyone on stage, and these singers are giving it their all! Don’t miss them as they bring this incredible story to life across the country!

The note I give again and again to some of the most experienced singers on Broadway is one you probably first heard from your high school drama teacher: We need to be able to hear you!

But projection isn’t just about getting louder. Articulation, resonance, breath, where you place the stress in a sentence, and even your acting intention can completely change how your voice carries through the house.

That’s why text work is an important part of vocal conditioning, even for seasoned professionals performing eight shows a week. The goal is to keep the voice clear, connected, and the performance fresh, night after night. 🎭

It was wonderful seeing ASVS student Pax Stein as Romana in this emotionally truthful and powerful co-production of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Whistle Down the Wind. NY Stage and Film and Deaf West, presented the production in early development at the Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie. Congratulations to Pax and our friend Jared Stein, who made this gorgeous score come alive as Music Director.

I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon in Nyack with my beautifully talented and thoughtful friends, colleagues, and fellow mentors celebrating .

Established in 2017, Maestra is a female-founded organization dedicated to increasing diversity, equity, and accessibility to creatives in the performing arts. Through steady advocacy, abundant mentorship and performing opportunities, and an ever-growing directory of music professionals, Maestra strives to provide access to an industry that has long suffered from lack of representation.

I’ve had the privilege of working with emerging vocal coaches and performers, helping them navigate and gain access to a field that has historically been difficult to enter. Georgia and I have been collaborating for well over a decade, and even before Maestra, I loved connecting and recommending ASVS alums for her productions and projects.

I am so proud of Georgia Stitt and the network of incredible talent she has built, and am honored to be a part of the new path of inclusion Maestra is forging for musicians!

Looking for a simple way to warm up—or cool down—your voice?

SOVTs (Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract exercises) are some of our favorite vocal tools for building ease, improving resonance, and encouraging healthy, efficient vocal production. In this video, Aimée shares a few of the exercises she uses most often with singers.

Give them a try, and when you're ready to take your training further, book a lesson with the ASVS team at aimeesteele.com. 🎶

That’s a wrap on NTI Theatermakers Summer Intensive 2026!

For 6 weeks, these actors dedicated themselves to learning the technical aspects of voice and implementing their newfound knowledge in performance. Singing can be daunting to the actor, but these students approached this summer with curiosity and intention, and I am so proud of what they accomplished. Congratulations and thank you all for a wonderful summer!

There isn’t one magic product that guarantees a great performance, but having the right tools on hand can help you stay healthy, grounded, and ready to perform.

Here’s what’s in our bag:

💧 Reusable water bottle: So simple but so important. Hydration is key!

☕ Travel mug: Tea or hot water soothes and relaxes throat muscles

🌿 Essential oils & aromatic sprays: Scent helps regulate the nervous system and redirect performance anxiety. Our favorites: lavender for calming, peppermint for focus, and citrus for energy. (Let me know if you spot the brave little anti-inflammatory tincture masquerading with the essential oils in the video... it might just give you pizza cravings 😉)

🥤Straws – One of our favorite tools for gentle vocal warmups and balancing subglottal air pressure. (video on SOVT’s coming soon!)

🎾 A dowel & tennis ball – Great for releasing physical tension and reconnecting with your body before you perform.

🧸 A fidget tool – A simple way to redirect nervous energy and stay present.

🤧 Seasonal support – Allergy and throat support products such as Terazinc, Entertainer’s Secret, BoomBoom Nasal Sticks, Fluticasone, Zicam, and other essentials.

Every singer’s kit will look a little different, but the goal is always the same: walk onto the stage feeling prepared, grounded, and ready to tell the story the way only YOU can.
