This article from Stay Inspired News shares the story of how a young MacKenzie Bezos was inspired by a teacher at Princeton, Toni Morrison. What she learned from a teacher she connected with and trusted has inspired a lifetime of service and giving to others in need.

Neither Toni Morrison nor Mackenzie Bezos attended an NMC school. However, the story of their relationship mirrors the ones that our member schools cultivate with our students. Congratulations are in order for Ariana, ‘26, who was honored by our friends at Hunts Point Alliance for Children as their student honoree at their annual gala last month. Ariana has participated in HPAC’s programs since 4th grade, including the Shakespeare ensemble & Ballet in the Bronx. She credits HPAC for sparking her love for the arts & building her confidence.

Congratulations to Nativity Academy at St. Boniface 8th Grader Dallas Grant! His artistic talent and vision helped him to win the Park Bus Design Competition in Louisville, KY. Kudos to this young artist whose work will be admired and celebrated as it rolls through the community!

Some lessons are learned more effectively OUTSIDE of the classroom. Teaching the core curriculum inside the 4 walls of a classroom has its place. But our member schools create with intentionality, the space for learning to happen in the real world as well. With the help of one of its community partners, National Park Trust, Covenant Preparatory School was able to bring curriculum about shoreline ecosystems to life. Our members create educational spaces full of vigor, exploration, and yes, some fun!

Our Coalition of 52 schools joins together in remembering the women and men who made the ultimate sacrifice with bravery and honor.

Our member schools fill the school day with activities and challenges that help our students tackle their fears and help them reach goals they once thought were unattainable. "Snake-charming" is just one of the perks. 😉

Academic success is not only about learning reading, writing, and arithmetic. The most impactful foundation of learning is connection and community. Our member schools create the space where students feel welcomed, safe, and seen. Once that connection is established, they are challenged to reach academic goals and develop the skills that will help them to thrive beyond the classroom.
