🍦🔎 End-of-Year Scavenger Hunt Fun! 🔎🍦

What better way to celebrate a fantastic school year than with a scavenger hunt and a sweet surprise?

After a year filled with learning, creativity, friendship, and fun, students enjoyed a well-earned cold treat while celebrating all they accomplished together. Smiles, laughter, and colorful water ice made for the perfect ending to an amazing year. ☀️🍧

A big thank you to the Wilmington Blue Rocks for welcoming SummerCollab and highlighting the work of local nonprofit organizations in our community.

☀️ Summer is almost here, and our CollabClub cooks whipped up the perfect treat 🍫🔥

They learened to make S’mores Bake—a sweet combination of graham crackers, melted chocolate, and toasted marshmallows that tasted just like summer around the campfire.

Want to make it again at home? Here's the recipe:

S’mores Bake Recipe
🍪 1 box graham crackers, crushed
🧈 ½ cup melted butter
🍫 2 cups chocolate chips
☁️ 3 cups mini marshmallows

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix crushed graham crackers and melted butter together.
Press into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the crust.
Top with mini marshmallows.
Bake for 10–15 minutes, until marshmallows are golden brown.
Let cool slightly and enjoy!

🎉 We’re celebrating LaMar Bruton, our Director of Programs, who is celebrating a birthday today!

LaMar brings nearly a decade of experience in youth development and plays a key role in leading and strengthening our programs at SummerCollab. From overseeing initiatives like 21st Century Learning Centers and AmeriCorps programs to supporting licensed youth services, he’s always focused on creating meaningful, high-quality experiences for the young people we serve.

With a strong background in both athletics and education, LaMar is passionate about helping youth build confidence, develop their skills, and reach their full potential. A former NCAA Division I champion and coach, he brings that same drive and commitment into his work every day.

Outside of work, LaMar enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures, and trying different foods along the way.

LaMar, we appreciate your leadership and the impact you make on our programs and youth. Wishing you a very happy birthday! 💛🎂

Earlier this week, we hosted an in-person onboarding meeting for our AmeriCorps LitCorps Reading Buddies Community Partners 🌟

It was a great opportunity to reconnect face-to-face as a team for the first time since COVID, review program expectations, and start planning for summer 2026 logistics.

Excited for the impact ahead and grateful for these strong community partnerships that support young readers! 📚✨
