Class of 2023 Students & Parents:
➡️ The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens tonight @ midnight (October 1st). The FAFSA is how schools determine what financial aid students will qualify for (loans, grants, scholarships, etc.) Often times, schools will use the FAFSA to know how much scholarship aid to offer students (FREE MONEY!) The earlier you fill out the FAFSA, the greater chance you have of receiving premium financial aid packages. Even if you think you make too much money, you STILL need to fill it out! You'd be surprised by what free money schools will scrape together to get students to attend their institution.
➡️ BEFORE filling out the FAFSA, both the student AND 1 guardian will need to create an FSA ID (Keep in a safe place to reference in the future). Directions to create an FSA ID are here: https://www.kheaa.com/pdf/pubs/fsaIDInstructions.pdf
➡️ FAFSA Night is October 13 from 5:30-8:00PM in the HCHS Library. Please review the flyer below to know what to bring with you that night. If you think you may have an extraneous circumstance that may create difficulty in filling out the FAFSA (non-custodial parent, emancipated minor, etc.), please email Mrs. Grimes so that we can set up another time to help you fill out the FAFSA other than FAFSA night.
➡️ November 1st is the Early Action deadline for most KY colleges/universities. To potentially earn the most scholarship money, submit your applications before November 1!
➡️ On Thursday, November 3rd @ 5:30PM the "Little Known Secrets of Paying for College" Parent Workshop will take place in the HCHS Auditorium. This is open to all 9-12 grade students and families. If your child is interested in attending college, you don't want to miss it! Sign ups were sent last week and will be sent again next week. We hope to see you there! (See flyer below)
