This year, NPMS Student Council will be hosting a FALL DANCE instead of a traditional Homecoming Dance. 🎉

iLearn Checkpoint Test #1 is this week at NPMS. Students will test in math on Tuesday and English Language Arts on Wednesday. Please make sure your student charges his or her iPad in preparation for testing.

Late Start Friday Information:

I want to take this opportunity to address some questions that have come up regarding the change in the middle school late start Friday schedule.

The Indiana Department of Education requires that schools provide six hours of instruction in 7th and 8th grade. Monday through Thursday NPMS provides more than the required six hours of instruction. Historically, we have been able to flex that extra time to accommodate the late start Friday schedule. However, this year the DOE will not allow us to flex those extra instructional minutes and informed us that we were twelve minutes short on Fridays. As a result, we adjusted the start time to meet the requirements of the state resulting in first hour beginning at 7:38.

The state has metrics that schools have to meet to flex instructional time, and the middle school did not meet that metric.

We are providing grab and go breakfast for students to take to first hour with them if they do not have time to eat before class starts. I apologize for the inconvenience for those of you dropping off students to multiple buildings; we have worked to make this change minimally disruptive for parents and students. I appreciate everyone’s willingness to be flexible as we adapt to this schedule change.
