GlobeMed at Rutgers University-New Brunswick

GlobeMed at Rutgers University-New Brunswick Partnerships are crucial to GlobeMed's model of engaging students and communities to address systemic inequities and health disparities. Join the movement.

Founded in 2011, GlobeMed at Rutgers University is part of a global network of students that endeavors to create sustainable change in global health equity and social justice through partnership with grassroots organizations. GlobeMed is a student-run nonprofit organization that aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity by empowering students and communities to work together to impr

ove the health of all people around the world. Each university chapter is partnered with a grassroots health organization in the developing world. Together, the chapter and partner organization collaborate on specific projects. GlobeMed at Rutgers University works with its grassroots partner, Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU), to address sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, and youth empowerment in Uganda by implementing a program called Peer Educators Academy. Through this program, young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are trained by RAHU staff to teach other youth about a variety of SRHR issues. After the training, they are assigned to a local health center and act as a guide to help other youth in their respective communities. Through GlobeMed, university students have the opportunity to build strong relationships with their partner organizations and other students who share the same passion for global health and social justice.
