The growing sphere of mediation practice in Ireland is very impressive. We have a lot of work to do in the U.S.

There is the launch of the Neurodiversity Awareness Programme for
mediators, program initiatives in schools, notably in primary schools in Ballymun, an ongoing survey exploring culturally tailored family mediation.

There is also a requirement to repeat the Code of Ethics training every 3 years and also if you wish to work in the area of Elder
Mediation you must attain and maintain a specific area of certification.

We are on the cusp of a peace agreement after long days in mediation and now direct negotiations between the two heads of state. They need all the encouragement they can get from here and elsewhere. Celebrate the prospect of peace:

Whether the Washington summit marks a breakthrough or distraction will depend on both leaders’ commitment to finish what they started.

Negotiation needs to be better understood, not only from the theoretical research side but in terms of its practical application particularly in political/global domains. Using Trump’s “Art of the Deal” to analyze what is usually needed to produce a good process and a shared investment in the outcome produced, some practical applications of theory are needed. In short, Trump is not drawing from successful practice to take on his style and that is certainly one reason why it falls short as often as it does. The concept of mutual benefit is not one he seems to understand.
