πŸ‘°βœ¨ What can a wedding dress reveal about history, faith, and craftsmanship? More than you might think.

Recreation of the Wedding Dress of Elizabeth Bowne Haines Warder, ca. 1836 is a fascinating new exhibition curated by Denise Wagner, Costume Director in the Theater Department at Mason Gross School of the Arts. Through the recreation of a historic wedding gown believed to have been worn by Elizabeth Bowne (Haines) Warder in 1836, the exhibition explores the traditions of Quaker plain dress and the ways clothing reflected spirituality, social values, and material wealth. Visitors will also learn about the dressmaking techniques used in the early nineteenth century and the process behind recreating this remarkable garment.
