๐Ÿš’ Is your student interested in a career in firefighting? Want to know what it takes to become one? The Consolidated School District of New Britain is excited to partner with the New Britain Fire Department to offer a Family Field Trip for 8th-12th grade students AND their parents/guardians in our district.

The New Britain Fire Department is dedicated to protecting and preserving life, property, and the environment, and this experience will give families a unique behind-the-scenes look at their important work.

๐Ÿš’ Take a guided tour of the fire station and training facility
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’ Meet professionals from various departments and ask questions about their careers
๐ŸŽค Hear remarks from Dr. Anthony Gasper, Superintendent of Schools, and Raul Ortiz, Fire Chief

What a first day at Holmes Elementary School! Yesterday, our Holmes Dragons officially kicked off the 2026โ€“2027 school year in their new home!

One of our favorite parts of the morning was seeing the incredible support surrounding our students. A HUGE shout-out to the many volunteers who gave their time to welcome students with cheers, smiles, and plenty of high-fives! ๐Ÿ™Œ

And Holmes wasn't alone! Across CSDNB, volunteers from organizations throughout New Britain lined up outside our schools to cheer on students and staff as they began a new year. That's New Britain. A community that shows up for one another, supports one another, and takes tremendous pride in this place we all call home. Our students could feel that support from the moment they walked through the doors.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the first day special!

๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’™ A ROARING start to the new school year at Lincoln Elementary School!

There were plenty of smiles, hugs, and first-day excitement as our Lincoln Lions arrived this morning, ready for a brand-new year! And what a beautiful welcome they received! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ–๏ธ A HUGE shout-out to the Lincoln Lions PTO and every parent, child, and staff member who stopped by last night for Chalk the Walk.

Welcome back, New Britain High School! ๐Ÿ’›

The Hurricanes are back! There was plenty of excitement outside NBHS this morning as students arrived for the first day of the 2026โ€“2027 school year.

For many members of the Class of 2027, the morning started well before the first bell. A couple hundred seniors gathered at New Britain Stadium for Senior Sunrise, a community-organized tradition celebrating the start of their final year of high school. Several New Britain families came together to provide an incredible breakfast spread for the seniors, and Mayor Sanchez stopped by to join in the morning celebration.

Then it was off to NBHS for the first day! Weโ€™re excited to have our students back in the halls and ready for another great year. Welcome back, Hurricanes!

Reminder!! TODAY, Monday, August 31, is the first FULL day of school district-wide!

We ask all students, families, and staff to remember that buses may run a little later than normal during the first two weeks of school. Your patience and understanding during this time are greatly appreciated.

All students should use their bus assignments if they have been assigned one. This allows bus drivers to get to know their route and helps relieve some of the traffic congestion at our schools. Please be sure to be at your stop 10 minutes early as the bus could come anytime in that window!

We ask parents/guardians to join their children to meet and greet their child's bus driver and to be aware that the busses do need to continue on their route in a timely and safe manner. The sooner the drivers can meet and get to know all of their riders, the sooner things will fall into place!

We anticipate traffic this morning. Please help us keep our students, staff, and community members safe by driving carefully and patiently in our school zones.
