Homecoming is just 4 months away! 💙🏈 We can’t wait to welcome our Blue Devils back to campus for a weekend full of memories, traditions, and Central pride! Who’s counting down with us?

Central alumnus Jio Rodriguez ‘24 who suffered a heart attack while playing basketball in the REC Center at Central two years ago is now an ambassador for the American Heart Association. He came back to campus to help introduce the Hands-Only CPR education kiosk, which helps users understand how they can immediately help a person who experiences a cardiac emergency outside of a hospital.
The kiosk features a touch screen with a video program that provides a brief introduction and overview of Hands-Only CPR, followed by a practice session and a 30-second test session. With the help of a practice manikin, or a rubber torso, the kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of compressions and proper hand placement – factors that influence the effectiveness of CPR. Jio is planning a move to Florida and hopes to secure a teaching position.

⭐️ ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT ⭐️ Capt. Keith T. Hall, USAF Auxiliary ‘78, MS ‘85

After graduating from New Milford High School in 1973, Keith arrived at Central in the fall of 1974, initially unsure of what path he wanted to pursue. He credits Professor Timothy Rickard and the Urban Planning program for shaping his career, noting that the guidance he received at Central played a defining role in his professional journey. Keith went on to earn both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Geography from Central.
Keith built an impressive 33-year career with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), where he advanced to the position of Transportation Supervising Planner. In this role, he managed the Environmental Planning Division office responsible for coordinating with state and federal agencies and overseeing permitting CTDOT projects. One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as Project Manager for the planning and reconstruction of the New Haven Rail Yard. Following his retirement from CTDOT, Keith continued his work in transportation planning as a Senior Transportation Planner with The Parsons Group for seven years.
In addition to his professional career, Keith has pursued a lifelong passion for music. A talented keyboardist, pianist, and guitarist, he has performed in several bands, released multiple CDs, and is currently working on his fourth album. He earned his pilot’s license in 1999 and continues to fly, including volunteering his skills through the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol), where he participated in search and rescue and disaster relief missions, earning the rank of Captain.
Now fully retired, Keith remains active in his community by volunteering with Feeding Tampa Bay, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food to those in need. He also stays connected to Central, returning to campus throughout the year - especially for Homecoming. Reflecting on his experience, Keith encourages students to keep an open mind when exploring career paths, emphasizing that planning professionals are in demand across both public and private sectors.
