🎉 Good Morning, E.C. Goodwin Family! 🎉

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of two of our talented students who represented E.C. Goodwin Technical High School at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference last week!

🥉 Anthony Pakutka earned a National Bronze Medal in Technical Drafting, placing 3rd in the nation and becoming the only CTECS student to bring home a national medal this year. This is an incredible achievement and a testament to his dedication, hard work, and technical excellence.

✂️ Jhovanna Guzman showcased her skills in Cosmetology, competing against some of the best students from across the country and finishing in an impressive 14th place nationally. We are extremely proud of her performance and commitment to excellence.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Anthony and Jhovanna on this remarkable accomplishment and for representing E.C. Goodwin with pride and professionalism on the national stage.

A special thank you goes to Rita Macri for chaperoning the trip and supporting our students throughout this unforgettable experience.

The SkillsUSA Championships is the premier showcase of America’s most highly skilled career and technical education students and one of the largest hands-on workforce development events in the world. Held in conjunction with SkillsUSA’s National Leadership & Skills Conference each June, this prestigious competition brings together more than 6,800 state champions from across the United States to compete in 115 skilled and leadership events.

Jhovanna and Anthony have demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence in their respective fields. We are proud to see them take their skills to the national stage and represent E.C. Goodwin Technical High School, Connecticut, and the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.

The Lady Gladiators will be hosting the Tigers of Daniel Hand High School this coming Monday, June 1st at 4:00 PM in the first round of the CIAC Tournament! Come out and support our Lady Gladiators as they continue their postseason run on their home field! Your energy and support can make the difference as the Gladiators battle for another big victory.

✨ Beauty Beyond the Chair ✨

E.C. Goodwin’s Junior Hairdressing students recently had the privilege of providing spa services for clients from Euro-American Homecare, and the experience was truly meaningful for everyone involved. 🧡🖤

Although some students felt nervous at first, those feelings quickly turned into confidence as warm conversations and genuine connections formed throughout the day. The kindness of the clients helped our students learn the true value of patience, compassion, and respectful care.

This experience reminded our students that their work goes far beyond beauty services — they have the power to brighten someone’s day, boost confidence, and help others feel valued and beautiful. ✨

A special thank you to Grace Mongeau, Marketing and Operations Coordinator, for her support in making this event possible, and to the caregivers whose patience and dedication created such a calm and welcoming environment for all.

We are grateful for this partnership with Euro-American Homecare and look forward to creating even more meaningful experiences together in the future. 🤝

From workforce opportunities to continued CTE education, these students are proving that skilled trades and technical careers are essential, respected, and in demand.
