This year’s sculpty clay trees; one of our most beloved traditions. The families have these for years. I still have the ones my daughter made and she’ll be turning 30.

And these are tiny, maybe 4 or 5 inches tall.

We make trees all the month of December so the kids can experience exploring a theme, decorated holiday trees, in a wide variety of art mediums.

I like to follow the large cone trees we finished yesterday with these small trees to give the kids an experience of the possibility of different scale in their art.

This might not look like a big deal but it was.

First we watched a YouTube video to figure out an easier method to make a large cone out of poster board.

Then we implemented the method which involved a pencil and string.

We cut on the curved line, either with or without help, or we watched while the grownup cut it out for us explaining about what it’s like to cut on a line.

Then we formed the shape into a cone and waited for Mrs. Tina to hot glue it together.

Then we tried to cover up the yellow with green paint.

Babies occasionally crawled over to take a look and had to continue their education about when to refrain from jumping in lol

Stay tuned. Tomorrow, after we bling these up, they will definitely look like a much bigger deal.
